Tips for the alpine hiker
First and foremost, hikers are kindly requested to respect the environment and fellow hikers and to observe the Natural Park Rules and Regulations, in order to prevent accidents and damage to nature.
Check weather conditionsbefore attempting a hike, Assess your abilities and plan the route accordingly. Do not underestimate the importance of appropriate clothing, as sudden weather changes and considerable drops in temperature can occur without notice. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots and avoid heeled or leather-soled shoes. Mountain-shoes are advisable everywhere.
Keep on numbered trails, walk at a steady pace and remember to rest from time to time. If you have to cross a stream, make sure with the help of a stick, that the rocks you mean to step on do not move.
Pay attention to the danger of falling rocks and do not provoke echo.
In your backpack, carry water, chocolate and fruit, a multi-purpose pocket knife, a light wind jacket, and avoid bringing non-essential items.
Bring your litter back home with you and refrain from picking flowers, plants, or fruits of the mountains.

The Ancient Routes of the Dolomites are a network of trails where the beauty of the landscape is enriched by the historical interest of the area.
There are two routes to chose from for those interested in the 1st.World War. One of these goes through the trenches and the Italian artillery posts below the Cinque Torri. The other route winds through the tunnels of the Open Air Museum on Piccolo Lagazuoi, and bears witness to the incredible war of mines, which was fought here. The Dinosaurs Route leads to Monte Pelmetto, the site of spectacular dinosaur prints dating back 220 million years.
The Mondeval Man Route leads up to a height of 2000 meters, where a burial site dating back 7,000 years was discovered.
