Skitours
SKITOUR
ITINERARY
Time
DETAILS
Skitour Olympia
(Cortina d'Ampezzo)
The lightning fast slopes on the Tofana and the downhill Olympia run from Pomedes to Rumerlo provide racing sensations among weird looking rock formations.
After the Tofana summit other high peaks are in store for you like Monte Cristallo and Monte Faloria. Great skiing fun is assured in the Cristallo-Faloria region. This section of the tour begins on the 2,123mt. high Monte Faloria with a really long descent on the 'Vitelli' slope, the Olympic Giant Slalom run. Through spectacular alpine landscapes we move further on to Stratondi, Canalone Franchetti, Tondi Normale or Slittone. The tour carries on across the Cristallo area on the almost 3,000mt. high Forcella Staunies. The lightning fast run of the Canalone Staunìes, seen from Son Forca, should only be attempted by the more experienced skier. This slope is the ultimate in sporting challenges and only open in the best of conditions.
The Olympia tour can be completed either in one or two days.

The tour follows the footsteps of the great skiing sportsmen and women, with unforgettable panoramic views over the renowned Dolomite peaks as well as pure skiing fun. On the way we find the Duca d'Aosta hut. The Olympic flame was kept safely here before the opening ceremony.

The healthy and tasty 'Olympia dish' served at some traditional huts along the itinerary is also worth a mention.

SKITOUR
ITINERARY
Time
DETAILS
Giro della Grande Guerra.
The tour passes under the cliff walls of those famed peaks like Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Tofana, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, Sella and Marmolada.
The First World War is the theme of this tour and in spite of the serious subject there is an optimistic tone. In fact, those who are familiar with the grandiose alpine landscape of the Dolomites will tell you the meaning of the word freedom. We're talking about a day out on those breathtakingly beautiful slopes for all the family.

The run from Lagazuoi to Armentarola and the Punta Rocca run (over the Marmolada glacier towards Malga Ciapela) are particularly spectacular. In fact the Civetta skiing resort is a frequent and superlative starting point. You can also set off on your tour from S. Cassiano, Corvara, Arabba and Malga Ciapela.

Including time for lunch you'll be on the move for up to 7 or 8 hours; one can follow the way either in a clockwise or anti clockwise direction and will cover almost 100 kilometres in doing so, a good half of the day being completed on skis and the rest divided between lifts and ski buses. A romantic trip by horse sleigh ride is also included for good measure.

Austrian mountain troops and the German Alpine corps along with the Italian 'Alpini' were present here from May 1915 until November 1918, engaged in a bitter struggle for survival. At the epicentre of the fighting, Col di Lana, the tour passes under the cliff walls of those famed peaks like Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Tofana, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, Sella and Marmolada.
At the numerous memorial points as well as museums along the way there are touching reminders of the notion of freedom. Many lines and trenches have been made presentable - for example at Lagazuoi - and they exist these days as open air museums for visitors.
Giro dei quattro passi
-
Sellaronda -
The skitour of the four Dolomite Passes around the Sella massif, one of the most spectacular of the world.

Passing through the four Ladin valleys: Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba.

It covers a total distance of 40 km, 26 of which are ski slopes.

The Sellaronda tour can be done by skiers of intermediate level.

The tour can be done easily in one day.

Warning: It is advisable to reach the final Pass by 3.30 pm, since otherwise reaching your final destination could become difficult. In the event of bad weather (snow or strong wind) some lift facilities might be closed.
It can be done clockwise or anticlockwise, starting from any of the four valleys.

For skiers coming from Cortina, the tour starts from Corvara,Alta Badia.

Clockwise the colour of the signposting is orange, anticlockwise it is green.
