It is a cultural association born with the aim to defend and enhance Cortina's traditions. In particular way, to maintain and to develop the socio-linguist culture linked to the traditional Ladin language of the valley.
Forests, pasturelands, and the natural territory of the Ampezzo Valley have remained intact to date thanks to the Regole of Ampezzo, the ancient institution which has been managing and preserving the sylvan and pastoral heritage of the valley.
From time immemorial, a body of families have enjoyed the rights to use the land and, for eight centuries at least, have taken care of it, by regulating the use of forests and pasturelands in the “Laudi” (a body of rules).
The Regole may be considered the most important institution in Cortina, certainly more important than the Municipality itself, as far as the extent of the property and the democratic, direct management of forests and pasturelands are concerned.
The Assembly of the Regolieri is attended once a year by all the 1300 heads of the families, it appoints the managers and takes the most important decisions concerning the use of the natural heritage, in perfect democracy, as it has always been since Feudal times.
