The International Mountain Bicycling Association organizes the First Epic Ride in Europe.
IMBA, the most important organisation in the world linked to Mountain Bicycling and its connections with the environment, has chosen Cortina as seat of its first European Epic Ride.
Epic Ride events are meant to encourage the adventurous aspect of Mountain Biking. They are held over routes of exceptional beauty to increase the awareness of the all-important relationship of this sport with the environment where it is deeply immersed.
Cortina d’Ampezzo and its wonderful Dolomites have been summoned to represent this spirit for the whole Europe. It is the only event held in the Old Continent, while all the other Epic Rides either have already been or will be held in seven American and Canadian resorts.
The event, organised by IMBA and Cortina Turismo at the same time as the Mountain Biking Downhill, valid for the World Cup. Therefore, both aspects of Mountain Biking will be present at Cortina on this occasion. On the one side, the most spectacular features, on the other, the awareness of the environment, considered as a valuable heritage to use and protect at the same time.

After the IMBA Trailbuilding School stage on May 25th 2000 hold for around three hours by experts from Boulder (Colorado), May 26th scheduled a Mountain Biking ride of rare beauty through one of the most renowned alpine valleys in the world, at the foot of Mount Cristallo.
