The Mountain Bike World Cup event will take place at Rio Gere, along national road SS48 of the Dolomites .The finishing line will be here, 6 km from the centre of Cortina, at the foot of
Mount Cristallo.

The course is served by a chairlift equipped with hooks for bikes. The start is at an elevation of 2,020m and the finish at 1,680m, with a vertical drop of 340m over a 1,950m distance. The average vertical is therefore 17.4%.

The racetrack was examined and agreed upon in detail by the experts of the International Bicycling Federation, coordinated by Mr Martin Withley, on April 20th. Race Director Maurizio Bortot of
Equipe Dolomiti and an officer of the Regole d'Ampezzo, which own the lands, accompanied the delegation.

The first part runs over a mountain mule-track along the ski slope Rio Gere. It is a very fast path, particularly suitable to fearless downhill riders, whereas the second and the third parts require remarkable technical skills.
The second part runs over a difficult terrain with stones and rocks. The third part of the track partly runs through the woods above Malga Lareto while the last part will be on a hard and fast terrain along the final stretch of the ski slope. The finish will be at the chairlift bottom station. The racecourse is therefore much varied, with highly spectacular parts.

Structure of the course:
  • Downhill course 100%
  • Wide track 50%
  • Narrow Track 50%
  • Fast sections 60%
  • Technical sections 40%
