The Olympic Ice Stadium was built to host the on-ice sports disciplines of 7th Winter Olympics in 1956, and it was "in the open air".
Nowadays, the Municipality have realized a cover for the stadium. Therefore weather conditions are no more a problem for the various events – sports, cultural, folklore – that take place here.
An artificially refrigerated ice-rink (30x60 m) is open both in winter and in summer. There are: a bar, ice-skating instructors, a solarium, and a playground for the children. Once a week it is possible to skate late in the evening with the "Ice Disco Dance", a sort of on-ice disco where one can dance-skate while listening to the latest hits.
Curling
On the ice, with a pair of shoes on, playing with a broom and a stone: that’s curling. In the winter season the New Wave Curling Cortina organises classes, individual lessons, or matches for the tourists on an indoor ice rink. All the necessary equipment is provided.
Ice-bouldering
Strange as it may seem, you may even climb up ice cliffs. Simple gear, a touch of imagination and… here’s the magic!
