Rifugio Pomedes is nestled at 2203 m in the Tofane group, at 12 km from Cortina.
The breathtaking backdrop, home to chamois, eagles, and marmots, is a natural environment where wildlife and man have found a uniquely perfect balance. The large deck offers some of the most dramatic views over the Ampezzo bowl and the surrounding towering massifs. There are 31 beds, a bar and a restaurant that offers the genuine tasty dishes of the Dolomite cuisine. These features ensure a relaxing and unforgettable experience in a cosy atmosphere.
It is the headstart and the rest-stop for enchanting walks and daring climbing excursions, as the scenic trail "Astaldi", or the route towards Rifugio Giussani or the vie ferrate (technical climbing routes laid out with fixed climbing aids ) Olivieri and Lipella.
The mountain inn can be easily reached: you can either drive up the road to Rifugio Dibona and, from there, follow a trail for about 30-40 minutes; or you may choose the two-stage chairlift from Pié Tofana.
It is managed by the Ghedina family and is open both in summer and in winter.
