Our Society
The G.I.S. srl (Cortina's Facilities Management, srl) was set up by the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1984 for the purpose of managing the town sports and cultural facilities. At present, the facilities run by the G.I.S are: the Olympic Ice Stadium, the Olympic Bobtrack, the Olympic Ski-jump "Italia" at Zuel, the Swimming Pool of Cortina, the sports centre for football and track-and-field events "A. De Rigo" at Fiames, the Gymnasium Revis, the tennis courts "A.R.Apollonio", the Multifunctional Hall of Cinema Eden, and the pavilion "Conchiglia" in Piazza Venezia, for musical events, and the congress hall Alexander Girardi.
Besides, it is in charge of the management of Fiames cross-country ski centre and of the maintenance and grooming of the cross country tracks in Cortina's area. It supports and cooperates in the organisation of cultural, sports, and tourist events taking place in Cortina, sponsored by the town Municipality or by local or national Bodies and Associations.
The G.I.S. srl is completely autonomous as far as the staff is concerned, totalling about 45 people in the high season and 30 in the low season. The staff includes: workers in charge of the management and service of the facilities, the ones responsible for the tending and control of the refrigerator-rooms both of the ice stadium and of the bobtrack; swimming-pool assistants with a licence for swimming instructors, projectionists for the cinema, cashiers, as well as the managerial staff.
The managerial structure
The managerial structure of the Board of Directors is thus composed: a Chairman, assisted by two members of the Board. This autonomy guarantees flexibility as far as decision-making and the policy of the association are concerned. In fact, except for the resolutions and authorisations by the majority partner - i.e. the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo - any problem concerning the realisation or the management can be undertaken, discussed, and decided upon within the shortest delay. This is why the GIS can accept and realise the organisation of sports, cultural, and recreational events in a very short time.
Equipments
It owns a sound- and audio-equipment to put on audio services anywhere in the valley in a very short time, since the apparatus is installed on a special van. The vehicles owned by the GIS include: self-propelled vehicles and tractors, snowploughs, a van for goods and passenger transport, snowgroomers and motor sleds for the maintenance of cross-country ski tracks.
Even electrical and mechanical devices are part of the equipment that the GIS can provide in a very short time as support means for all the events organised either directly or on request by Associations or private citizens.
Offices
The main offices, located in the premises of the Olympic Ice Stadium, are furnished with software and hardware to keep the accounts, to handle statistic data and information, and to circulate any public information by means of leaflets and brochures in the shortest time. Besides, the GIS is able to provide any information on the lifts and on the events in real time on its Web pages.
