TENNIS COURTS "A.R. APOLLONIO"
At the end of the Thirties, when tennis became a very popular sport, the tennis courts were completed and opened to the public.
At present A.R.Apollonio Stadium can be used only in the summer, from May to September. It contains 5 outdoor tennis courts and annexed dressing rooms and showers. A tennis instructor of the Tennis Federation is always present to teach the first rudiments to beginners or to help expert players to improve their style.
It is therefore quite easy to understand the emotion that the view of this stadium still offers to the sports people and the citizens of Cortina. Many of them have put on a pair of ice-skates "listes" (in the Ampezzo dialect) for the first time on the natural ice where today there are the outdoor tennis courts.

SHORT HISTORY
In 1930, in fact, the stadium was officially opened to the public with a friendly Hockey match. In the Fifties, it was named after brothers Armando and Romano Apollonio, excellent athletes from Ampezzo, members of the national teams for hockey and speed skating, who died untimely when already at the top ,yet not at the apex of their sports careers.
It was here that Cortina Hockey Club gained their first shield in 1932, by winning against the strong team from Milan, that had been holding the title since 1925. Among the spectators, on the new stand of the stadium, a guest of honour: Prince of Savoia.
The A.R.Apollonio stadium hosted Cortina Hockey team's training sessions , national and international matches as well as figure skating training and competitions before giving up the title of "first stadium" to the new facility that was to host 7th Winter Olympic Games in 1956.
