Preparation, self-challenges, teamwork: these are the motivations that inspire the young Alpini who will take part in "Falzarego 2009". This is an annual military exercise that takes place in the month of July, in the centre of the eastern Dolomites, on the Torri del Falzarego, the theatre of the First World War.

The Alpini, 250 in number, including 25 women, will give a demonstration of their operative skills under extreme conditions. Perfectly equipped teams of rock-climbers will climb up to the peaks to make daring rescue attempts, applying sophisticated mountaineering and rescue techniques.

These activities require constant and specific training as well as hard physical and mental discipline. With bated breath, numerous tourists will witness the activities of the Alpini, which will be carried out under the careful scrutiny of both civil and military authorities.

In this way, the Alpini will demonstrate their capability to operate in varying climatic and environmental conditions – qualities that are indispensable in carrying out the numerous international engagements that they are called to. A truly exciting show, not to be missed!
