On the Lagazuoi crest, behind the Austrian trench and much higher up there is the look-out of emplacement 4 (Feldwache 4), from which the Austrians were able to control Italian lines. The emplacement is garrisoned by a platoon of German soldiers of the Alpenkorps, sent from Germany to fortify the southern defences of the Austro-Hungarian Empire till late 1915.
Young people and children are particularly curious and interested. |
