| In the mountains, the evacuation of the wounded was a very hard job, the Austrians had to descend from the front line trench at 2700m of altitude as far as Val Badia down the Armentarola. This 12 km-route has now become one of the most wonderful ski runs in the Dolomites.
The wounded were transported by stretcher bearers along steep paths exposed to enemy fire. The wounded soldier is being interviewed by the Italian TV troupe during the 2002 event. |
