| This Austrian trench, on the Pre-summit crest, ends in a Schwarzlose machine-gun emplacement, opposite the Italian one, which was located 30 m away.
The trench was protected by several barbed wire entanglements to impede the attacks of the Alpine troops from below. Guard duties were extremely hard for the soldiers both for the harshness of the high altitude climate and the Italian artillery fire from the 5 Torri. |
