The Maria Vergine della Difesa Church.

The church is situated in the center of San Vito, exactly beneath the pievanale church. Constructed at the end of the XV century, it was enlarged during the first half of the XVI century after the Venetian war against Kaiser Maximilian of Austria, and then once more during the XVII century.

This late-gothic church contains various precious works of art. A triptych, attributed to Francesco Vecellio, brother of Tiziano, hangs above the main altar.



The Ethnographic museum

The Ethnographic museum is located 50 meters beneath the main road at Resinego di Sotto, on the left when driving down towards Serdes. This elegant stone building is the provisional home of the museum and its exhibition concerning the local traditions and customs.

The Union de i ladin of San Vido and the Oltreciusa groups together the three communes S. Vito, Borca and Vodo. Officially instituted on 25 January 1996 by eight founder members, today Daniele Lucia Petito acts as its President, with Lino del Favero Fauro as Vice President, and Marco Sala Tuze, Corrado Belli Co_àn, Marianno Sala Donìn, Marino De Lotto Franzés as advisors.

The ULSVO is a member of the Federation for Ladin Culture in the Dolomites and the Veneto region. The headquarter is located in Cortina d'Ampezzo's Ciàsa de ra Règoles.




Aims

The Union's aims are as follows: safeguarding, conservation and valorisation of the historical testaments that link the community to its territory; historical and linguistic research, publications of studies, research and historical documents, the creation of specifically designed local culture courses, the valorisation of the language and local place names, the creation of local museums or specifically designed cultural institutions, the organisation of events aimed at valorising the habits, costumes and traditions of the communities and the active participation and support of the various Ladin Cultural Unions.

Activities
Original dictionaries explaining the local dialect of the Oltrechiusa region by Vincenzo Menegus Tamburin have been
reprinted. In addition the magazine Par nò desmenteàse, entirely written in dialect, is published three times a year. Traditional festivities are always highly popular and many inhabitants participate wearing traditional costumes. The local press devotes large sections to the Ladin culture and the ULSVO also taks part in, and organises, numerous congresses specifically regarding the cadorino ladino dialect.
