Some summer paths are accessible
to mountain-bikes, provided nature and other hikers are respected.
One itinerary not to be missed starts from San Vito di Cadore; ascend
to the start of the chairlift at San Marco; take this to Refuge Scotter;
from here continue to the end of the forest track and then descend pleasantly
for about 6 km.
Another interesting itinerary leads is the so-called "Tre Laghi Tour", included in the 15 mountain bike itineraries in and around Cortina d'Ampezzo.

A highly
scenic and level pedestrian road runs through the village
for 6-7 kilometres. The track is paved and well lit and is mainly suitable
for children and elderly people. A wide network of trails, accessible
even to push chairs, runs across the valley and offers the opportunity
for a large number of easy naturalistic and cultural walks.
Trekking
enthusiasts will find a lot of marked trails of different
rating, from easy rambles to long, demanding walks or even the Vie Ferrate
(technical climbing routes equipped with iron cables for support). The
trails will lead you to discover the natural beauties of some of the most
famous mountain groups of the Dolomites: Antelao, second in height only
to the Marmolada; the Sorapis whose opposite face reflects into the lake
of Misurina; the Pelmo, crossroads for the Valle del Boite, the Val Fiorentina
and the Val Zoldana; the Marmarole ridge, sung by Giosué Carducci
in his famous "Ode to Cadore".
Expert
guides are available if you wish to be escorted.

Even without any mountaineering expertise, you may still enjoy a short
hike from one mountain inn to the other, along the famous Alte Vie (high
level hiking routes) of the Dolomites and visit sites rich in historical
interest as the burial site of the Man of Mondeval (5000 BC) or the dinosaurs'
prints dating back to 200 million years ago.

The mountain inns nestled in the most scenic spots of the surrounding
mountains are over 50. Headstarts for the most demanding hikes, they offer
a rich variety of local specialities and the opportunity to relax while
lying in the sun at higher elevations.

The most important date in the yearly calendar is the "Festa
dei rifugi", a weekend celebration organised by the mountain huts
that takes place from 7-8 September.
Every year the end of the summer season is celebrated with music, food and drink and every refuge offers individual gastronomic delights, some of which handed down from one generation to the next.
