1st World War in the Dolomites

In these mountains a war was fought between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies that was unique in the world. In memory of those events, the most extensive museum of the First World War in the Dolomites has been established; it consists of  the two open-air museums of Lagazuoi and the 5 Torri  and the  museum of the Tre Sassi Fort,  showing the different aspects of the war in the mountains.

The paths of the museum reach emplacements and dormitories dug out of the rocks; trenches and tunnels cross the mountains and allow the visitor to get to know the daily life and the battles of the soldiers, in one of the most panoramic and exciting walks in the Dolomites.

All the paths are well signed with information displays, and audio-guides  illustrating the events of the war can be rented.
