The sentiero Ivano Dibona![]() The famous sentiero Ivano Dibona is in fact a via ferrata that works its way along the main Cristallo crest from Forcella Grande to Col dei Stombi, where it meets up with the cart road Val Padeon. The Great War The ferrata was first constructed by the Italian Army during the First World War and then restored during the 1960s. When at the start of the Great War the Austro-Hungarian and Italian Armies began to take up their positions in the valleys, on the mountain passes and the roads along the Front, no one could have imagined that the fiercest battles would have been for the summits of the mountains themselves |
