Monte Faloria
Rifugio Faloria - Rio Gere
From Rifugio Faloria walk along path no. 212 to Rio Gere. The first section to the top station of the chairlift at Pian de ra Begontina is an old mule path, while the second section an old cart road. For the keen cyclist either continue on into Val Padeon, or return to Cortina along the alternative routes to the SS 48 highway listed below:
Malga Lareto - Rigugio Mietres - Cortina: take the path on the right shortly beneath Rio Gere and after the bridge T. Bigontina. This leads to Malga Lareto and on to Rifugio Mietres, before descending along path no. 204 to Rifugio Col Tondo and Chiave. Alternatively, take path no. 207 at Col Tondo down to Cortina via Grava.
Lago di Costalaresc - Mandres - Cortina: Take the SS48 to Rifugio Lago Scin and turn off onto path no. 210to Mandres, the cable-car middle station, to then return to Cortina. Before reaching Mandres coast along the western shore of Lago di Costalaresc, or rather, the ex-lake, since little remains of it other than reeds. Nevertheless it is worth stopping here and examining the small stream and the sedimentary rock, since these contain many fossils. Although you are allowed to search for fossils, they are protected and may not be collected.
