Vor 200 Mio Jahren aus dem Urmeer geformt, ragen sie heute bis auf über 3000 m in den Himmel. Die besondere Zusammensetzung des Gesteins, von Déodat de Dolomieu (1750-1801) bestimmt und definiert, tragen sie seinen Namen. Jetzt sind sie Kandidat zum UNESCO Weltnaturerbe.

The Great War ski-tour is the latest winter news if you happen to ski in the Dolomites. The itinerary runs across the Dolomite frontline and around Col di Lana, the bloody hill, symbol of the Great War. Emplacements, tunnels and loopholes built by the Italian , Austro-Hungarian, and German troops during the First World War are encountered on the way.
This historic itinerary will lead you across spectacular landscapes, among the most stunning peaks of the Dolomites: Civetta, Pelmo, Cinque Torri, Tofana, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, and Marmolada. The Great War tour is accessible to all, adults and children alike, and to snowboarders as well.
