TOFANA SKI AREA

Rifugio Pomedes is the headstart and the rest-stop for unforgettable skiing experiences.

In the winter season it is open from early December to Easter.

Skiing
Splendid, red and black demanding slopes, such as the legendary Olimpia, where the Women's World Cup downhill race takes place every year.

The same skitrack was even used for the Men's race in the 1956 Olympic Games, when Toni Sailer was the first athlete who ever won three gold medals. These Games saw the extraordinary performance by Chiharu Igaya, the first and only Japanese athlete who ever won a medal (silver) in Alpine ski competitions.
A glance at the very steep "Pomedes schuss", where speeds of 125 km/h are recorded , is enough to appreciate the kind of challenge the favourite skiers will have to face. In the middle section there are some tricky turns while the last part is fast and fine gliding is requested.

Pomedes is connected to the other pistes of the Tofana ski area, easy and intermediate.
