Lagazuoi Dolimiti Expo
32043 Cortina d'Ampezzo
From 12th September until the end of the season, the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti will pay tribute to Lino Lacedelli, a member of Cortina's famous group of climbers "Scoiattoli" (squirrels) who, on 31st July 1954, conquered Mt. K2.
At the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, a photo exhibition and a video tell about a challenge inspired by this great adventure. The Sky editor-in-chief Daniele Moretti and the photographer Matteo Zanga have produced a report focused on the 2014 expedition "K2, Sixty Years Later".
The documentary titled K2 - Un urlo dalla vetta" (“A cheer from the summit”), produced by SkyTg24 under the direction of Daniele Moretti, was focused on the same objective. "K2, Sixty Years Later" picks up the thread interrupted after the first great ascent of the K2, proposing the adventure in reversed roles: te expedition was led by a team of Pakistani men and supported by an Italian team.
The project was coordinated by the EvK2Cnr committee and its president Agostino Da Polenza, who followed the adventure step by step from the base camp and thus took on the role that Ardito Desio had 60 years before.
Attention is also drawn to the scientific and ecological topics of the expedition: the installation of a climate weather station in the base camp, the GPS measurements - the most accurate ever made - of the summit and other important areas, the cleaning work of the base camps and the Baltoro Glacier.
