Arabba

This is a scenic and quite challenging tour (almost 40 km. ) that wanders into the territory of Alta Badia. The climbs are not as daunting if you use three lift facilities. You start off from Arabba heading East and continue along a slight downhill on provincial road n°48 until the village of Renaz, where, in front of the artisan dairy (worth a visit and a taste of their excellent cheese) you start the climb along asphalt that goes to the hamlet of Cherz. Here the asphalt becomes a dirt road and as you continue the incline gradually increases until you reach Passo Incisa. From here, in a swift change of community, province and region, we continue in descent towards Corvara. Before the dirt road ends and before coming to the golf course coming up in front of us, we turn right and come close to the centre of Corvara. Form here the cable lift of the Col Alt will take us to the higher altitudes and to a second lift ( Brancia chairlift ) that we'll take after riding down a little ways to its start. From here we head North and follow the trail marked n° 4 downhill to get to the village of La Villa. Turning right and coasting on a comfortable bike path along the Rù de San Ciascian we come to the village of S. Cassiano, from which we take another cable lift, the Piz Sorega. Heading South now we will follow an unmarked trail to the Rifugio Bioch , then it is a slight climb on path n° 23, until the Rifugio Pralongià. Here the hardest part is over: now it is downhill all the way to rifugio La Marmotta, then, carefully, we head back to Arabba going the opposite way along the route we took for the first kilometres after the start, or we can take the Jagerweg / Campolongo route.
