GRAND TOUR DOLOMITI STARS ( CLOCK WISE DIRECTION)- PROPOSAL FOR EXPERT MTBIKERS

In our proposal we suggest you to start the tour from Val di Zoldo as this valley is the closest to reach when leaving the highway A27 Venezia-Belluno if you'll fly to the airports of Venice. You can start the tour also from Falcade or Arabba, according to your needs.

In our area there are many bike-friendly hotels equipped with all the useful facilities for a biker: deposit for the bikes, bike washing system, laundry service and special meals.

STEP A | ETAGE 1

Zoldo Alto (Val di Zoldo) - Palafavera - Forcella Alleghe - Alleghe - CIVETTA AREA

You'll start with a easy climb to Pian del Crep, by bike or taking the cable car Pecol-Pian del Crep. From here you'll have a wonderful view down to  Val di Zoldo and to the surrounding mountains of the Dolomites UNESCO. The descent to Mareson requires great driving skills and attention. Then you'll go back to Pecol and from here take the main road along Staulanza Pass up to Palafavera. Here follow the dirt road to Forcella Alleghe and then down to Piani di Pezzè, on the other side of Mount Civetta. From here a descent with many technical single tracks for the lovers of downhill. In short you'll be in the centre of Alleghe, on the shores of its beautiful lake. At the end of this first step you can decide also to stop and spend the night in this village.

STEP B | ETAGE 1

Alleghe - Cencenighe Agordino - Valle di Gares - Canale d'Agordo - Falcade

You'll ride along the foot of Mount Piz from which in 1771 a huge landslide fell generating the lake of Alleghe. From Masarè you'll start a slight descent towards Cencenighe  Agordino along the old road which goes along the river Cordevole. From Cencenighe you'll enter the Val del Biois on a forest track along the river Biois towards Canale d'Agordo ( birth place of our beloved Pope John Paul I). From here you can follow the directions in the wood riding along the lovely Val Gares and back to Canale d'Agordo. This step can be omitted if you're late or tired.

From Canale d'Agordo follow the "Cavalera road" starting from the main square Papa Luciani and ride towards Falcade, where you'll point entering the "Piana di Falcade" a sunny wide green plain.

This is the end of the first etage.

From here you 'll reach Forca Rossa, 2550 m asl,   this is the most difficult point as in some places you could have to carry your bike and you could find also some snow left.

The descent from Forca Rossa towards Val Pettorina, in the Marmolada area gives great satisfaction: through the plain of Franzedas you'll ride down to Malga Ciapela, at the foot of the majestic Glacier of  Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites.
