THE MARCHING BAND OF CORTINA D'AMPEZZO
The "Corpo Musicale di Cortina d’Ampezzo" marching band was founded in 1861 and is still very popular today. Being part of it means living on Cortina’s traditions, not just in musical terms: the band members wear the traditional costume whenever playing and parading, in Cortina or elsewhere in the world.
Every year, during the last week of August, the "Corpo Musicale" organizes the Festa de ra Bandes (Band festival): bands and folk groups from all over Italy and abroad animate the center of Cortina with concerts, parades, carousels at the sound of traditional music.
THE CHOIR OF CORTINA
The "Coro Cortina" choir was founded in 1965, by a group of friends and mountain-lovers driven by the desire to organise their songs in choral form.
The "Coro Cortina" has won prizes in Italian and International competitions and given numerous concerts in prestigious settings including the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Conzertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Haydnsaal in Eisenstadt, the Stadthalle in Vienna and Berlin, the Hall of the Cinquecento in Florence and the Sala dei Corazzieri in the Quirinale Palace in Rome.
