Silver filigree on display at Cortina d'Ampezzo's Ethnographic Museum.
The Museo Etnografico Regole d'Ampezzo has conceived for winter 2022-2023 an exhibition that will actually last for a whole year and is dedicated to one of the typical crafts of the valley: filigree.

The art of silverwork was for decades, even centuries, the spearhead of the local Art School, which prepared dozens of master goldsmiths capable of crafting splendid works of art of unmatched taste and sophistication. Among the jewels in filigree (mainly of silver, but sometimes with golden parts) the trémui stand out. These are flower-shaped hairpins used for the decoration of the ladies' hairstyle in Cortina's traditional costume. The flowers recall those of Cortina's meadows and are crafted from a thread of 0,08cm of width and finished with coloured gemstones. Several trémui, along with pins, necklaces and other jewels and objects, will be showcased at the exhibition fromthe 1st of August tothe  9th of October.

A veritable labour of love for an art that is quickly disappearing, together with its masters, but that deserves to be showcased in the hope that someone, struck with wonder, may pick up the baton.
