Ski mountaineering to Forcella Giau

How to reach the starting point:

From Cortina, take the road towards Giau Pass. After crossing the area of Pocol, turn left towards Giau Pass and continue until you reach a little carpark indicating “Casera Giau”, where you can leave your car. 

Easy tour, popular also after snowfalls due to the safety of the path, that still gives you an astonishing view of the Dolomites.  

The tour starts right below Passo Giau, about 3 km before reaching the pass, at a height of 2.000 mt. You will notice a little carpark beside the main road where you can leave your car. From there, follow the path 436 towards the south, reaching the slopes underneath the Lastoi de Formin mountains. Climb up to the right, where the track is less steep, until you reach the panoramic Giau saddle. 

The descent has to be done skiing down the same itinerary. Due to its exposition, the tour is accessible until late spring.
