Olympia delle Tofane

Tofane

One of the most well-known and iconic runs of Cortina d'Ampezzo: it will host the Women's Downhill, Super-G and Giant Slalom competitions during the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Cortina 2021.

The slope has hosted ski competitions during the 1956 Winter Olympics and hosts every year the Women's Ski World Cup competitions. In addition, in 1990 the famous local athlete Kristian Ghedina won the Downhill competition on this very slope.

In its 2,560 meters of length, it has some notorious tricky passages: the Schuss, with a maximum slope grade of 65%, where the athletes jump and reach a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour, right between two huge rocks. The ""Duca d'Aosta jump”, the ""Delta turn” and the ""Scarpadon"" are three additional key challenging parts. In the final section, the slope grade decreases and the athletes have to keep up their speed in order to face the final traverse and jump.
