A Trail Running route in the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, and the Nature Park of Fanes, Sennes and Prags; in this way, it enables runners to savour every facet of the Dolomites.

A route in the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, and the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park; from pastures to scenes recalling lunar landscapes, meeting lakes and unspoilt nature. A circuit that is entirely in the northern part of the Valley, in the Fiames area.

Starting from the centre of Cortina, head towards the station and take the “ex Ferrovia” (disused railway) cycle path towards Fiames, and when you have reached the “Antonella De Rigo” sports centre, stay on this path, which takes you through a tunnel, over a bridge and then through another tunnel. On the left, there is a dirt road, where you take track n° 201, passing underneath the state road Strada Statale n° 51, and then moving down to Sant’Uberto (just above Tornichè). From here, take the tarmac road towards Ra Stua until you reach the Malga Ra Stua mountain hut. When you have arrived at this small paradise with many grazing animals and substantially level pastures, go straight on, following track n° 6, which will bring you to the second stop: the Rifugio Sennes mountain lodge.

Most of the route is within the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, and the Nature Parks of Fanes, Sennes and Braies. The trail between the two mountain lodges is fairly steep, but it enables you to experience the transition from pastures to areas that look like lunar scenes, going through thick forest and the incredible Dolomitic landscapes.
Once you have reached the mountain lodge, take track n° 7 towards Fodara Vedla: across moderate slopes, it will bring you to the third stop, on an open path running through fields and pastures. The Rifugio di Fodara mountain lodge provides a beautiful view of the valley below, particularly evocative at sunset. From here, take track n° 9 which will bring you back to the Malga Ra Stua mountain hut, passing a small lake and a downhill track.

Once you have reached the mountain hut, follow the same route that you took during the outward stretch to return to Cortina d’Ampezzo.
