The Pian de Ra Spines route runs alongside both banks of the river Boite, offering many viewpoints along its course.

The Pian de Ra Spines circuit runs alongside both banks of the river Boite, offering splendid views of the Cristallo and Pomagagnon mountains, with a sense of peace and tranquillity provided by the relaxing sounds of nature and water. The route is in the northern part of the Ampezzo Valley, in the Fiames area.

Leaving the centre, head to the start of the “ex Ferrovia” (disused railway) and follow it towards “Centro Sportivo Antonella De Rigo” (Antonella De Rigo Sports Centre). The cycle path runs from north to south, and its name reflects the fact that up until 1964 it was the track of the Treno delle Dolomiti, the Dolomites Train, which ran from Calalzo, going through Cortina and on to reach Dobbiaco. After you have left the last houses behind, before the football pitch, on the left take the dirt track n° 211 which leads you across the road. Just after having crossed, a short distance before the bridge, take track n° 10 on your right, towards Pian de Loa.

Continue on the route that brings you past Hotel Fiames and into the forest: here you will find a gentle and restful path, flanked by trees, with the sound of the river Boite to keep you company. Stay on the dirt road for about 4 kilometres until you reach the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites chalet. After this, turn left onto track n° 417 which, after crossing the river Boite, abruptly changes direction, heading towards Pian de Ra Spines and the Camping Olympia campsite.

On this part of the route, you will see timber installations by artists who have created their own tributes to nature and Cortina d’Ampezzo. In addition, you will find the “Librascion”: a bookshelf in the form of a tree, which provides the opportunity for a brief pause, enjoying a very different form of relaxation.

Once you have reached Camping Olympia, go over the bridge and cross the road again, taking track n° 211 and returning to the town centre on the “ex Ferrovia” (disused railway) cycle path.
