The via ferrata to the Terza Cengia del Pomagagnon, also known as the Sentiero attrezzato Zumeles (Zumeles Equipped Path), is relatively simple, but with exposed sections that require a firm step.
Leave your car at the Codivilla-Putti Hospital and follow the cycle path in the direction of Cortina and then path no. 202, which climbs to the large scree gully descending from the Forcella del Pomagagnon (descent of the Ferrata Strobel). Leave the gully to the left and proceed right on a slight descent and then climb up on the left following the signs to the imposing ledge that rises diagonally. Here you reach the attack of the ferrata, which proceeds with exposed sections with and without a steel cable and thick scree that requires a steady foot and an absence of vertigo.
Once you have circumvented an edge with a steel cable and a bit of a descent, you reach a gully where you can rest before the most demanding part of the ascent, which will take you to the last exposed ledge.
You then climb to the Forcella at 2250 m, which separates Punta Erbing from the Croda dei Zestelis, via a few small rocks and a section of equipped path. Climb a few rocks to reach the simple summit cross of Punta Erbing at 2301 m, with a spectacular view of the opposite Cristallo valley.
Then descend the Val Padeon at a safe pace and, after the first steep and demanding section, you reach Forcella Zumeles at 2079 m, crossing paths 204 and 205. Keep to the right with signs for the Mietres hut, descending on wooden sleepers that aid the descent.
When you reach a junction between trails 204 and 211, it is advisable to follow the second one on the right, which descends gently to Mietres and then to the starting point at Codivilla.
