The phase of rejuvenation that Cortina is undergoing is not limited to the improvement of the slopes in view of the World Ski Championships or to the renovation of the accommodation sector. Indeed, another ingredient of any holiday in Cortina, perhaps one of the best, has just become even better: the food experience.
The 2018/2019 winter season comes with some new openings: the icing of the cake of an already great restaurant and bar scene.
The El Faral restaurant at the base of the Socrepes chairlift has been completely restructured and has just reopened with a new style, a different identity and a new name: Chalet Tofane. The new management, which includes the Michelin starred -àGraziano Prest, offers a completely new menu with special pizzas. In addition to gourmet food, expect some good après-ski with Dj sets in the new terrace at the arrival area of the Socrepes piste.
Another renovated mountain hut is Baita Son dei Prade, reopening as Baita Resch. The name comes from the Resch family, who is continuing its long history in restauration with this new experience.
Placed in a scenic slope-side, close to the road to Passo Falzarego but with a full view on the pistes and mountains, Baita Resch is a great coupling of natural beauty and taste.
The Lorenzi family of the Rifugio Scoiattoli are starting a new activity in town. The Hotel Cornelio, strategically positioned next to the bus station and on the pedestrian and cycling road, has been restructured and has reopened a few weeks ago as Ciasa Lorenzi. The hotel has a restaurant open to the public that offers traditional dishes and vegetarian and vegan options. Open from 10 am to the evening, Ciasa Lorenzi is a new spot for a gourmet stop.
After only a bit more than one year on the scene, the SanBrite has been already awarded one of the most important recognitions for restaurants in Italy: the “hat” of the restaurant guide of the magazine l’Espresso. The review highlights the modern and welcoming atmosphere and the quality of the food proposed, based on seasonal and local products cooked with great ability.
The SanBrite thus becomes the third restaurant in Cortina to be awarded a l’Espresso “hut”, after Tivoli and La Corte del Lampone.
Just a few steps outside the town centre, the Fvsion Cortina Restaurant is something completely new in Cortina. As the name suggests, the basic concept is that of a fusion of the Japanese and Italian food cultures. This clearly shows in the diverse menu, which offers several home-made specialties of meat and fish, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Fvsion Cortina also offers a take away service on order.
Masi Wine Bar
The highly panoramic Ristorante Col Druscié, on the Tofane ski area, is opening a new wine bar with the Masi winery. The bar, at the foot of the restaurant’s terrace, will serve food as well as a selection of wines.
