HIKING ROUTE: MOUNT CROT | SELVA DI CADORE | DOLOMITES UNESCO World Heritage Site

The departure of this easy excursion is located on the top of the Staulanza Pass, just behind the namesake refuge. The dirt road winds up along some green meadows, towards a first col, from where you can admire the Fiorentina Valley and the surrounding peaks of the Dolomites. Go on along some rocks towards another wider col where the imposing Mount Pelmo (3168 m) is so close that it seems you can touch it. From here forward you must pay attention because the track is dangerous. At the end you will find some old military shelters dated back to the 1st WW: a breathtaking 360° panorama on the Dolomites like Pelmo, Civetta, Marmolada, Sella, Antelao, Becco de Mezzodì.

Alternative route: leave your car in the picnic area 1 km far from Pescul. The dirt road leaves on the right of SR 251, near the bridge on the Fiorentina brook and it heads towards “ Sa lander” a former restaurant. From here the path leads to Pecol Col: just follow the wooden signs with the name “Crot”. Go past the wooden underpass and go right along the local path “Agusciei – forcella Federa – Crot” . Follow the red signs and in 1 hour and half you will reach a panoramic col and the road coming from Staulanza Pass; carry on along this way towards the top.
