The "PalaLexux", which was officially opened in August, 2003, has already successfully hosted over 50 great events. The tent village – a large structure for parties, concerts, presentations, congresses - will serve as the hall for Cortina d'Ampezzo for a few years until the new Poly-functional Centre at Pontechiesa will be available (its construction started in July, 2003).
The new structure is located in the town centre, on the bus-depot square. Its elegant shape – a large white tent with graceful lines – matches very well with the surrounding environment and has a capacity of up to 500 seats. The PalaLexux size is approximately 40 x 20 metres and covers a rectangular surface of 768 square metres. It is formed by wide arches connected one to the other, the front and back walls - 10x20m- are illuminated, and four intermediate bays/spans. Guests can sit on comfortable chairs with an excellent visibility of the stage whose materials and lines recall the shape of a typical "stua", the living room of an Ampezzo home, surrounded by matching flower decorations. The large stage can hold music bands, choruses, and concert groups. The acoustics of the hall have been successfully tested during three prestigious concerts, which were held in August by the musicians of the Filarmonica della Scala. An entrance to the backstage enables loading and unloading operations for exhibitions and events. In all the parts of the structure, the guests can enjoy the performances, thanks to the audio-system equipped with the latest technical innovations, plus the video equipment to show videos, slides, images through personal computer, etc.
There is adequate room for a reception area, which can be used as accreditation desk, press room, or for post-congress and coffee-breaks. During the winter season, a heating system will be operating and, on request, a cloakroom will be available. Within a few metres from the structure, there are the newly built toilet facilities.
There is a large parking area adjacent to the structure. Tourist and logistic services such as hotels, Skipass Office, Hotel Owners' Association Office, curling tracks, the valley station of the Faloria Cable-car, the Information Point on hotel vacancies in Cortina d'Ampezzo, are all nearby. Thus this location is ideal for all the guests.
