Open air Museum of the Lagazuoi - Passo Falzarego

Mount Lagazuoi is a veritable "castle of rock", with spires and turrets, and with military bases hidden in its bowels.

During the Great War the Italian and Austro – Hungarian armies dug shelters in its interior for men and arms, transforming it into an impenetrable 20th Century fortress.

Today you can visit the restored tunnels, trenches and machine gun posts. The museum can be reached on foot or via the fast cable car.

The numerous routes will take you on a behind-the-scene tour of a dramatic war fought at a high altitude and which was unique in the history of man.

Visit: free entrance; audioguides for hire, in Italian, German and English. The pass has a large car park and a public toilet.

Rise in height: 650 m

Routes: easy or moderate, ranging from a few minutes to a whole day, all carefully signposted and  accompanied by information boards.

The museum can also be visited in winter by taking the Great War Ski Tour.
