CAPRILE

Alleghe is linked to Caprile not only by the main road down in the valley. The inhabitants of the higher hamlets could in the past move to and from the hamlets through a path that goes on the middle of the side of Mount Fertazza and that used to be the link between the meadows of Fernazza Hamlet and those of Pian and Lagusello villages. This tour can be proposed in both directions, but with a difference: if you go anticlockwise , in high season when open, you’ll be able to take the cable car from Alleghe up to Piani di Pezzè. If you walk from Alleghe, down in the valley, take the CAI path 564 that leads up to Piani di Pezzè ( La Val de Molin), and here move towards the arrival of the gondola lift. You can avoid this heavy climb using the cable car. As you are in Piani di Pezzè, go on taking the little easy road on the left of the cable car direction Coi, place with many samples of prestigious mountain buildings. From here further the most difficult but satisfying part of the tour: from the centre of Coi you’ll enter the climb towards Fernazza that gives beautiful views, relaxing on the providential benches placed by CAI. As you have passed Fernazza, keep the left side of the path that leads to the top and at the fountain turn again left in front of a burn, encouraged by a signpost on a tree which directs towards Pian e Lagusello. The ups and downs of the first part of the path are very panoramic with pleasant views on the lake of Alleghe. After a easy way the path gets narrower and you must pay attention. On the open place you’ ll see the signposts leading down to Piniè, but don’t follow them. Go on a bit further on a slight slope and then you’ll start the descent towards Costerla. While you go down you’ll find one by one the other hamlets: Col de Sopernai, Val di Sopra and Col da la Vara, a fence will bring you into a comfortable forest road that takes to Pian, nice hamlet of Alleghe. The well-cut meadows gìve value to the place and are a great example of the Dolomitic tradition. In the village there’s a providential fountain. You’ll go further on an asfalted raod that brings to Lagusello, pass through it following backwards the signposts for Carducci Path and the red and white CAI signs until you enter a little forest that in short takes you down to Caprile, just in the point where Fiorentina stream flows into the Cordevole. From here you’ll reach the main road: you can go to Caprile square where you can take the bus back to Alleghe or you can go back on foot, walking on the path which runs along the main road.
