WALKING | CAPRILE - SULPHUROUS WATER SPRING | ALLEGHE - ROCCA PIETORE | DOLOMITES UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site

Starting from Piazza Dogliani in Caprile you take the sidewalk along the Cordevole Torrent in the direction of Savinèr di Laste (Rocca Pietore); about 500 m later, after crossing the bridge, while the state road curves to the left you take the right instead and right away you will see signs indicating the spring. The wide dirt road is never too strenuous and it continues in to the gorge carved out by the Cordevole. In about 10 minutes you come to a little wooden bridge after which on the right there is the sulphuric spring. As you quench your thirst you can benefit from the healthy properties of the spring water, which has a distinctive smell that is not at all pleasant. Several benches placed here invite you to sit along the banks and to the right a ramp goes to a picnic area. Continuing for another few minutes in the direction of the narrowest part of the valley, where the overlooking walls plunge down, you will find yourself in front of the Digonera dam. Construction on this began in the 60’s but was interrupted after the tragic Vajont accident. Return along the same route.
