TREKKING ROUTES ON THE TRAILS OF THE MONDEVAL MAN | SELVA DI CADORE | DOLOMITES UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site
Starting from the village of Toffol-L' Andria the first part of excursion follows a paved road that climbs ever so slightly until you reach Piera L'Auta m 1756 and get on the CAI path n. 466, near three wooden signs. Here there are some boards with info about the area and the Mondeval archeological findings (see: Public Museum "Vittorino Cazzetta"). The path goes through out the amazing Mondeval valley. When you are on the top pay attention to the rock with the red sign “Mondeval”. Here you must leave the CAI path, turn left and go towards the Mondeval Mesolitic burial-place (the findings are at the Museum Vittorio Cazzetta). Just behind the dairyfarm of Mondeval di Sopra turn left and follow the CAI path n. 436 of the Alta Via n. 1, up to the nice little alpine lake “delle Baste”, overwhelmed by the Lastoni of Formentin. From here a beautiful view on the Pelmo Mount. Carry on up to the rocky slope of Corvo Alto. For the return it goes back down to the lake on the left and start to go down the trail n. 465 to the beautiful valley of Busa dei Ciavai among the mountains of the Piz del Corvo and the Cernera. It continues croos "the Ponte di Sassi" and "the Sas Strenc" until you venture in the woods and after a long descent we arrive at the first houses of the village of L' Andria.
