Alta Via number 1 in Val Fiorentina

A long journey through the Dolomites

Val Fiorentina is crossed by the famous Alta Via Number 1 the walking path cross from north to south the Dolomites. It is a long hike that starts from Lago di Braies and get to Belluno. The crossing can be divided into various days, with the Alpine Huts and camps where to stay overnight. The whole journey takes 10-15 days walk.

The stage passes for Selva di Cadore is the fifth and leads climbers from Rifugio Nuvolau to Rifugio Città di Fiume. This stretch of Alta Via crosses the System Number 1: Croda da Lago - Monte Pelmo, recognized World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

From Rifugio Nuvolau 2575m descend to Passo Giau 2236m and continue towards Forcella Giau 2360m, cross the spectacular plateau of Mondeval de Sora passing to the side of the Lastoi del Formin and Croda da Lago, then Forcella Ambrizzola 2277m until reaching at the Rifugio Città di Fiume 1918 m at the foot of Mount Pelmo.
