The lake Lago Centro Cadore is the ideal place for water-sports, for a spot of fishing or just a gentle stroll. Mountain bike fans can tackle the trail known as La Lunga Via delle Dolomiti which winds unbroken all the way from San Vito to Austria, or in the opposite direction, it takes you down to Calalzo and then on to Belluno. For more adventurous holiday-makers, there are plenty more demanding, at times hair-raising trails snaking through the woodlands.
After a hard day’s work-out on the slopes or if you just feel like chilling out, head for the Centro Benessere Corte SPA in Borca, where you can relax in the sauna or swimming pool, pamper yourself with a soothing massage or choose from other invigorating treatments.
For those with a more cultural frame of mind, Cadore boasts a number of fascinating museums. The house that was once home to the painter Titian can be found in Pieve, as can the archaeological museum MARC (Museo Archeologico Cadorino) and the Eyewear Museum (Museo dell’Occhiale). At the summit of Monte Rite, in Cibiana di Cadore, there is the Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites, known as the Museum in the Clouds in which culture and nature blend into one miraculous whole. The number of attractions is almost endless and they are all here waiting for you to discover on a holiday to suit the whole family.
