It is one of the highest mountain chalets in Cortina at 2752 meter high. Its balcony is so famous thanks to astonishing views over the Dolomites that it has been mentioned on important magazines in Italy and abroad.
The Rifugio Pomedes, situated in the Tofane area, is a unique place to stop and gaze at the “Alpenglow”, when the sun is just below the horizon and makes the Dolomites glow with golden-red colours.
The refuge was built by the alpine guide Lorenzo Lorenzi, who still runs it together with his family, and it has breathtaking views over the 5 Torri area.
